My Kombat Face

In the spirit of October and getting the blog back up and a runnin', I'm taking on a weekly theme for this whole month! This week I will be doing a Mortal Kombat themed looks every day this week. Unfortunately, I am not very good at taking pictures of makeup cause I'm not good at lighting and all, but I'll do my best!

Anywho, I've been following the Mortal Kombat Legacy (will be doing review) live action series that have been airing on Youtube. They are very well done and stay fairly true to the series, which pleases me. I wish they would do an updated version of the Mortal Kombat movie(s), but this Live Action does an equally impressive job. I can't complain too much.

((Larger version here.))

Today, Monday, October 3rd, I did Sub-Zero, who is my favorite Mortal Kombat character! I used mostly drugstore makeup in doing so. I used the Greed and Pride palettes from Wet N Wild and Teen Angel from Heavenly Naturals for this look. The eyeliner was Urban Decay's 24/7 liner in Zero, of course, and I used my E.L.F mascara because I am running so low on mascara! By the way, I use masking tape to get my lines like that!

The line-up of looks will go as follows:

Monday: SubZero
Tuesday: Scorpion
Wednesday: Kitana
Thursday: Smoke
Friday: Skarlet (from the new Mortal Kombat game)

When I finish them all, I will put them together in an image and do a feature on them! Also, I'm surprised that I didn't do any characters with purple in them XD it is my favorite color, after all! And strangely enough, it's a thematic Mortal Kombat color, right?!

Anywho, that's it from me! Peace, love and prosperity ya'll!

New year, new goals... hopefully.

It's been awhile, but the blog has finally got a little bit of a layout overhaul. The banner was an overdrawn process because of laziness and not knowing what the hell to draw. I think I finally nailed it, and it adequately describes how this blog is a pile of things that don't make sense but are totally cool, bro.

Hopefully we'll start blogging here a little bit more, and getting ourselves into craftier excursions. But for now, we'll stick with the usual. Makeup. :P

I have no idea why that nail polish is there, lol. I think I bought it at the same time and decided to group it in so it wouldn't feel lonely.

Makeup Storage & Organization

I never did get around to a Let's Play last week, and I do apologize for that, but family life has been a little... insane. I'll try to get one done this week, especially because I do have a lot of crap to post.

A few weeks ago I realized I was quickly outgrowing my little makeup set-up, and with mom in tow took a trip to the Container Store to see what I could do about expanding my storage. I'm pretty pleased with what I have going on now, so I decided to take some pictures while I sorted everything. Forgive the flash in some of the photos, it was nighttime by the time we got home and I didn't want to wait to set everything up :3 I hope this helps others looking to organize their makeup!

Let's Play!: Nautical Nymph

Remember when I asked for ideas for a weekly segment of my own? Here it is! I'm a fan of watching "Let's Play!" videos on Youtube, which if you don't know, are videos of people playing video games from start to finish. I always liked how those two words sounded and they fit with this segment pretty well. Basically, I'm just going to be playing with my make-up c:

These aren't normal wearable looks, mind you. I do those from time to time (I have a few regular ones coming up, I promise!) The whole purpose of this segment is for me to play around with wild colors and use my face as a blank canvas -- not just my eyes.

Jem! And the Hot Pink Eye Fantasy! XD

Long time no blog! So, recently I was in Texas to visit Courtney and I ended up staying an extra week to be at her fabulous 80s themed graduation party! The outfits were crazy, the smell of flammable hairspray was in the air and the makeup was fabulous! True to the eighties them, myself, Courtney and her sister (somewhat) all did looks that were modeled after of inspired by the 80s cartoon Jem and the holograms! This blog is just about the look I did.

Just a little pity, if you please.

As mentioned in my previous post, life has been a little shitty to me lately. What better way to make the clouds part and the sun shine than to order a bunch of pity makeup?

To make matters even better, I ordered from my favorite wholesale website, All Cosmetics Wholesale, (who were also having a sale -- yay!) so I got all this stuff for under $30. I normally use them as my MAC resource since their shit is so expensive, but for once I didn't see anything I had to have right now. You can find their website @ http://www.allcosmeticswholesale.com.

Queen of Hearts

This is incredibly overdue, but lately life has been bending me over a table and having its way with me. As if finals weren't bad enough (especially since I'm trying to graduate) I've had to deal with a few personal things. Luckily that means I have a bunch of posts lined up and ready to go, so I'll start with this one.

My sister had her 14th birthday party back in early April and decided she wanted an Alice in Wonderland theme. Knowing me, we all knew I had to be the big bitchy Red Queen. P: I didn't have the time to throw together a spiffy outfit, so I tried to make up for it with outlandish make-up that I drew mostly from Helena Bonham Carter's representation of the Red Queen.

Overdue Review!

It's been a while since I've done a blog! I have quite a few things to talk about and review in here and after cursing at my camera and deciding that it his a huge piece of (expletive), I'm ready to get down to business and do some loooong overdue reviews!

Sugarpill Review/Haul

Recently, there has been a lot of buzz on the internet's makeup community about Sugarpill cosmetics. Courtney actually first told me about it and after doing a little poking around myself, I ordered from them last Friday. My package arrived today and I have to say, I'm very impressed! The shipping section of the website said three to ten business days and I was really hoping it was less so that that products would be here before mine and Courtney's trip to Florida. I'm so happy that it did. I was expecting it to take ten days rather than less, so yay for reliable mail service!
((Isn't that cat adorable?!))

Upsetting and Upsettinger

Today I bring to you a new segment; First Impressions. We all have them and just because you don't own a product yet doesn't mean you can't have any assumptions about it. So... here it goes.

Urban Decay's Alice in Wonderland Palette

I was excited for probably two minutes. Those two minutes entailed thoughts of bright new colors, exciting and daring shades that matched the wacky world of Alice. All those hopes were dashed when I noticed the fine print: There are no new shades in this palette, they are all ones that have been released in previous "Book of Shadow" collections. Uh... lolwut? I understand that it's probably a pain in the ass for Urban Decay to release new shades with every palette, but if it's something as big as Alice in Wonderland, I don't see how they can just repackage old shades. Maybe it's just me. I was going to buy this palette until I remembered I already have the Book of Shadows collection and therefore own half the shades as it is :P

Moving on...

Flirt, #18 in the Anita Blake Series by Laurell Hamilton

I have been a fan of this series since I discovered it about eight years ago. I was there for all the ups and downs, Hamilton's unfortunate "let's have sex every page" fad to "let's take eight chapters to describe metaphysical energy" kick. Through it all I have remained a devoted fan to the series, so imagine my delighted surprise when I checked my e-mail to see a Border's newsletter that had a small feature on Flirt. I quickly realized that I had yet to finish the previous book, Skin Trade, so now I have been reading like a mad woman to finish it quickly. Unfortunately I was very perplexed when I had to make a run to Walmart and saw Flirt on the shelves and picked it up to discover... it's the size of a young adult novel. If you've never read Laurell Hamilton's books, trust me when I say they're huge. I carry some big ass purses and even then I can barely squeeze her novels into them. I picked up this flimsy little pamphlet and was unsure I could even use it as a paper weight.

I will be purchasing it anyway once I finish Skin Trade, I just really hope the size doesn't mean it's crappy and lackluster. We'll see.

Pillow Pants >.>

I couldn't think of what to name my post, so there it is. lol Anywho, I'd like to write briefly about the look I did last Thursday. I was kinda proud of it. Courtney has given me a lot of tips and combined with what I've been watching on Youtube from xsparkage, I'm getting pretty good if I do say so myself!

Anyways, I started with Blanc Blue, a custom color from Courtney, and shaded it about to the middle of my lid from the outer corner. Then on the other half, I did Kirill's Plumberry and then blended them a bit in the middle. From my crease to brow bone, I did Vincent's Kiss, but I think in the future I'd like to do a pink that's a bit brighter. I love Vincent's Kiss, but it's not as bright as Blanc Blue or Kirill's Plumberry. Anyway! I then added Aqua Blue to the corners and beneath the eye just to the middle. From that color to the outer corner beneath the eye, I put taffy purple. It came out really nicely! I added black liner to make it pop, just to my water line and I even put on mascara, but that got dangerous. I poked myself in the eye like 30 times! I still haven't branched out to blush yet. I'm still really nervous about it, but all in due time! Baby steps, people!

Next time I do a look that I like, I'll try to take pictures. The pictures I've taken don't always come out the way I want. I want the pic to do the look justice! Not make it look like a blob of color! lol

Anywho, until next time. Keep it real, homies!

Ironing out the kinks.

Still setting everything up and trying to get into the swing of things with this new blog. P: Fiddled around with my hard press for my mineral makeup, will probably take pictures of that later because it came out rather nice.
