New year, new goals... hopefully.

It's been awhile, but the blog has finally got a little bit of a layout overhaul. The banner was an overdrawn process because of laziness and not knowing what the hell to draw. I think I finally nailed it, and it adequately describes how this blog is a pile of things that don't make sense but are totally cool, bro.

Hopefully we'll start blogging here a little bit more, and getting ourselves into craftier excursions. But for now, we'll stick with the usual. Makeup. :P

I have no idea why that nail polish is there, lol. I think I bought it at the same time and decided to group it in so it wouldn't feel lonely.

I've been a big fan of NYX for a while, and wanted to get my hands on their jumbo eye pencils. Granted, these are old photos from my massive "POST PLZ" folder on my desktop, so they've actually been in my collection a little while now. On the upside, that means I've had more time to test them :P I bought these at Ulta, but I'm pretty sure I've seen NYX in Walgreens and CVS. For you Texans, HEB has it in their cosmetics aisle.

The eye pencils are ridiculously creamy. It's like spreading delicious cream cheese over your eyelids, only not so disgusting. I've used the blue as a base for other blues, greens, and even yellow (it makes this pretty awesome yellow to green fading effect) and the white I've used as a base for any bright color I've wanted to pop.

You have to put a good chunk of it on your lid to pat and blend out, but surprisingly my pencil hasn't needed sharpening yet. Which is good, because I've yet to find a sharpener that big LOL. I don't know if NYX sells them, I didn't see any at the drugstore and I'm too lazy to look it up. Google is only a click away for you, though.

I'm so in love with these lipsticks. They're pigmented, they're creamy, they're fun to rub all over your lips. Maybe other people's faces, too. My only wish is that they had more staying power through "cocktail" events. I've worn Penelope several times and halfway through the evening it's already faded down to lip liner, so I look like some backwards chola. The good thing is it really doesn't take more than one swipe to get the most out of the color, so just plan to carry it around with you for the evening, or use a lip stain underneath.

Surprisingly, Penelope didn't stain my lips the way I thought it would. It's easy to wipe off and looks great with bright eyes since it's not a true black. I'll have a look coming up that has a bright pink and blue eye look paired with this lipstick.

But for now, here's a picture of my sister and I being goth chic.

  1. Who doesn't love a backward chola? I know I do! And hey, if anyone can rock the 'nude lip, black lip liner' look, it's you, chola. ;)
