The video game industry is not for gamers. WTF?

So I've been scouring the interwebz for fantastic movie news and... Well, I've been disappointed and hit with the unfriendly fist of failure. While there are still good movies coming out or good movies that have already come out, such as Iron Man 2 (yay) and others, but with these few nuggets of gold also come steaming road apples.

Let me start first by saying that they have officially announced a Silent Hill 2 movie. IMDB lists is as 'in production' and you have to go pro to find out more, but it is listed as being released in 2011. There are quotes circulating saying that they want to make the movie more 'audience' friendly and shed some light on a very vague game/movie. Um... I'm no expert, but as a dedicated fan of the series, the best part about Silent Hill is the fact that it's vague! That's the whole point! You'll be hard pressed to find a fan of the series that disagrees. On top of that, they said that making video game movies is not just about the fans of video games. I'm sitting here thinking that if it wasn't for these video game fans liking said video games, there wouldn't be a need to make movies based off of them! And who do these jack-offs think are going to be seeing their movie? Lonely housewives with four kids stuffed into a mini-van or the Anime T-shirt wearing kid with Monster in his hand and the Halo backpack? Hmm, tough one there, right? That's like saying that romance movies aren't for romantics, they're for hard-core action fans. I saw the first one and I appreciated what they did with it, but when does the insanity stop?

In other news, there's going to be a Scream 4. No, that is not a typo, it's really happening. Wes Craven is directing it, of course, and IMDB has this as the plot "Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer." Um... Yeah. I mean, if you loved the third one with McDreamy and the mysterious brother-killer, then this one's for you. I'm probably going to see it because I'm lame like that, but I'll wait for the DVD.

And lastly, I will leave you with some hope movie fans. Robert Rodriguez is said to be releasing Machete, one of the fake trailers that appeared on Grindhouse, this September. It's up on IMDB, but we'll see. It's supposed to have a huge, all-star cast so check it out. I have to say that I'm excited, so I hope you are too!

Keep on gaming, Gamers! Bye~
