Welcome to week three of Exploring Beauty! Through the past two weeks we have explored the mystery and taboos of body modification and the attraction to our cartoon (anime) fantasies. This week, we go a little bit further to explore the natural human form. That's right, boys and girls, this week we're going to talk about nudity.

We've all watched cartoons. Most of us still do, regardless of our age, but what is it about Anime and Manga that has so many so captivated? The stories are endless, the characters unique and the effect that it has on us is one of heartbreaking romance, nail-biting adventure and non-stop, deeply satisfying violence. We have laughed, we have cried and we have begged for more with our favorite animes and mangas and it is something that has cultures and people all around the world captivated.

Exploring Beauty: Session 1

The human body is one that can be simply taken as is, as it was given to us from birth or it can be seen as a canvas. Body modification is a trend that has been explored through our society in many ways, only getting more radical with time. But this practice was not invented by our current culture. Many cultures have practice tattooing, piercing, searing, etching and branding as a right of passage long before it became main-stream everywhere else. In these cultures, the choice to get a tattoo or pierce one's face is seen as beauty or the mark of the passage from boy to man or girl to woman. These concepts are not too far separated from the reasons why people in our current culture get their bodies modified.

Exploring Beauty

I think it's time for this blog to have a weekly update! Yes, that's right people! Weekly! Of course Courtney and I will still be doing the make-up thing and the gamer thing and all the other things that pop into the mind, but something that's weekly will give this blog some 'POP'!

The first few updates are going to be a new segment called 'Exploring Beauty'. I will do my best to update every Friday night or Saturday with something that is exploring or challenging what people find beautiful. I will try to keep what I post PG-13 at the most extreme, so if you're looking for X-rated beauty, you might try a different blog. XD

The first segment will be featured this Friday/Saturday, so everyone look foreward to it! I'll also post it on Facebook as well, so keep any eye out, my peeps. Also, if you have suggestions for the segment and the like, let us know here or on facebook or one of the other mediums that we offer here on Blogger!
